This website is a slice of life of watercolour painter Ray Barnett. Click on the online gallery and you'll see his recent paintings. Click on demonstration paintings and you'll see, in stages, how a watercolour painting is created. These are taken from Ray's recent painting classes. There are also lots of demonstration paintings on the QAS 4th Sunday class page. On this home page on the left are links to pages that are 'hints and wrinkles' for aspiring watercolour painters.
As you'll see on the online gallery Ray paints particular events and places- people at work or play, in the city, farms or waterfront. His paintings could be considered a narrative of the times as they include many aspects of present day life, for example, building workers or fishermen, horse races and boat races or marching bands and orchestras.
Ray travels extensively (usually on a bike) and from the titles of his past exhibitions it can be seen that he has painted subjects from many foreign parts- Vietnam, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Spain, England, Ireland and Italy. Recently Canada and Cuba have been added to the locations that have supplied subjects for his paintings. Ray has been painting for a long time with the earliest recognition of his work being a number of primary school prizes. Since then he has won over 30 first prize art awards. Ray has been working as a professional full time artist since 1988. recent exhibition 'Thresholds:Doors and Entrances' Bungendore Fine Art opened Sunday 11 April 2010for a view of some of the exhibition paintings go to 'an ekphrastic exhibition ' page
